T5a looks good value. But why only good for 3 hour rides?

regular road cycling, for ascending all types of slopes and comfortable for outings for up to 3h. aluminium frame, carbon fork and 27 speeds

probably written by the same person who thinks a 22 mile route (Delamere Loop) should take you 2 days to cycle! (mind you on a road bike it might just take you that with the depth of the mud at the moment!)

Basically it is most likely related to Decathlon's way of saying, ride it lots and bits are going to wear out quick (hubs anyone?). Just like their "for occasional use" comments etc.

I think they also sell shorts and bib-tights with pads graded in 3, 5 and 7, with notes saying respectively short, intermediate and all-day rides. It's really an invitation to pay more for better quality.

... and IMO, what is wrong with that?

Don't work for them by the way but what more do you expect from a retailer in a capitalist/consumer society govna?

I wouldn't worry too much about their mileage suggestions. I did a 140mile Audax in their "occasional use" lycra sorts and I still have a fully functioning undercarriage.

I think that someone is looking for something that is not there!

IMO, Decathlon kit is generally pretty good and they are conservative about their "ratings". As Scott says, he rode 140 mile on his Triban wearing occasional use shorts with no problems. I was there also, however I am not able to confirm nor deny his claims re. his undercarriage, lol.

Chew fat on 'forum' - promote debate etc. - propose ending to others statements by way of questioning - initiates reaction, clarifies position ... yawn, it's late ... bored ... bed time  .

I thought everyone knew that the carbon forks begins to melt after three hours of non stop riding. Anything over four hours and the wheels begin to despoke.

I suspect it's more to do with a comfort thing, which is essentially what they say about clothing too.

I'll be amazed if they do discontinue the current T3. If they do either their market research is poor or the management don't listen. Ideal situation for me will be end of February new T5 comes out as well as current T3 being around, then I will have a really tough choice.

They aren't discontinuing the current T3. I had a chat to a customer service guy on the website yesterday as I couldn't add one to my basket (fixed now). They've just changed it's stock number as it's a new UK made model with the same specs.
