Thanks... that's just like my toaster, but mine is 2 slices bigger :wahhey:

We had three dualit toaster at the same time once. When Bikepete writes Velo Vision, he develops some strange obsessions as displacement activities.

So this one time it was over dualit toasters, we had a two slicer, which is the one in the picture, a four slicer that would only fit thin sliced bread and a four slicer for thick slices. All of these were bought from ebay.

The two slicer was given to friends as a wedding present and the four slicer thin bread one was put back on ebay. We kept the four slicer thick bread one and its lovely. :wahhey:

I have given up on toasters, I just put my bread under the grill. Does the same job and now I have an extra toaster-shaped bit of space on the worktop!

+1.
When we bought a new cooker a couple of years ago the salesman talked my wife into paying an extra £100 for the model with the shiny buttons and the extra fast grill. It's quicker than the toaster was but the £100 still nags at me:biggrin:

The perfect toaster? What's wrong with a toasting fork and an open coal fire?

too damn right - have you ever eaten bread toasted by this method?

Tastes far better  than grilled or electrically toasted bread, must be all the carcinogenic smoke particles from the coals that does it. ;)

Mrs DP once couldn't get the lever on the toaster to go down. She took the slice of bread out to see what was going on and a dirty great rat shot out of the top!

Yes, it really did, but I've no idea how it got in. We had a lot of rat issues in that house.

It's the carbon footprint - and I'm talking about the smuts on the bread by the way.

The answer to the OP is of course to measure up the toaster and then bake your own bread to size so that it fits the toaster.

Ah yes. She loved toasting to "to the depth and breadth and height" - no safety handles on her toast.

Indeed!!

Toast, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
