Today a bad driver did this...

No excuse but Farcilities lead to that sort of thing, all you can really do is scan ahead, see the right turning car/ obstruction and expect the muppet to do that and occasionally be pleasantly surprised when they don't

Whilst he shouldn't enter the cycle lane whilst you were in it. I think that was pretty clear what is about to happen, best to be defensive in that situation and ease off and let the person through before any conflict happens.

I fully agree with this

I also agree that the driver was a dangerous idiot. Pulling out like that then ducking into the cycle lane, indeed - he clearly knew the bike was there but expected him to give way to the mighty motor car.

I agree too but some numpties depite pulling out on/ facing a cyclist a cyclist 0.5secs earlier are oblivious to the fact they could be there a second later

You didn't see that coming? 50/50 split on bad driving/riding.

Sorry mate but that is nonsense..The guy saw me there..her looked right at me as he turned onto the road...I was in a cycle lane and he just pulled right across me...luckily I did see it and stop in time...the bloke simply drove dangerously, then decided to call me a prick...anyway...the video is already at operation crackdown sussex police...for anti social careless driving.

Not the greatest bit of anticipation in the world, you see the car in front of the Volvo do the same thing, but that is only minor. The driver didn't look properly before committing to road position change... that's a (observation) fail

From my personal experience I would have held back, 90% of drivers just are not looking for cyclists when/if they do see us they usually underestimate our speeds and trajectory, plus if he wanted to get physical there's not really much you can do with cycling shoes on anyway!

To those that have commented on the fact you may/may not have seen that, from the point the Hazard presents itself to the point the car is in the cycle lane is only 4 seconds. Agreed I would already be on the brakes a little, but he didn't give you much time to react imo. Glad you're reporting it.
