I'm feeling REALLY sick today. Really, really sick. I've lost my wallet. The energy I've used looking for the wallet would have been more productively utilised decorating the front room or the stairs. I've looked in literally every place in the entire house large enough to accommodate a wallet even though I only had it as recently as 3.30 pm yesterday as far as I can recall. It was either picked out of my pocket or been somehow 'misappropriated' (lost) by my good self. It's the first time this has ever happened and it took ages to decide to report it, cancel the cards and try and remember everything that's in it. I never keep cash in it but things like my CTC and my British Athletics membership cards are in it along with hotel chain rewards cards.

I can understand why employers do think that some are pulling a fast one in saying they are sick - (usually they have taken sick leave quite frequently - I can think of one such individual at an ex-employers - often sick on a Monday for example and a Friday), but I think they should believe more people. What is the point of getting someone who has a contagious bug to come back a day early and potentially spread the infection to the others in the office so that they all have a day off. Surely that is very short sighted. I would rather they took the extra day off when they are recovering. If they come in they usually don't work to their full potential either. Though I have to admit to struggling on with a cold frequently - especially when the kids were younger.

Same short sighted management that designed our drinks area in the office which is really small, serving I don't know how many people 50 or more. It is so small that you can't get two people in it at the same time. This means that people queue up outside the little cubby hole waiting for their turn to get in and rinse their mug and make a drink or use the microwave. If the area was slightly more open then you could have several people at the same time there.

I hope you are feeling much better now Sandra6:thumbsup:

I think if I were an employer I'd rather people took time off sick than came in and made me sick.
I made sure everyone at work knew I was proper poorly and did very little actual work just to make the point.
I have no time, however, for people who have "flu" for a day! Or declare they have tonsillitus or bronchitus or someotheritus without so much as a wander past the doctors surgery. No, you have a cold or a sore throat.
A friend of mine on facebook has had a week's worth of statuses varying between telling us how very ill she is and how much fun she's had on yet another night out. Erm, you're clearly not very ill then.
I am obviously much better because I'm getting catty!

I've only had real flu three or four times, but when I worked for a small developer I rang in one morning to say I wouldn't be in. The MD rang my home number many times the first morning I was off. I was in bed feeling like death warmed up so ignored the phone I finally got fed up and went downstairs to answer the phone but she'd rung off so I rang 1471 and rang her back but only got to speak to the secretary, [the 4 of us employed by the developer were allies in adversity] then took the phone off the hook! She drove 20 miles to my house to see where I was as she thought I was blagging. I stayed on after I'd recovered as it was a good job just to spite her but never took her seriously again.
