I came across a twinned toilet in a church in Barnsley precisely one week ago, having never seen such before, so maybe it really is a /very/ new concept. The idea is to 'Twin your toilet and fund a project in a community that helps families to build their own basic toilet, access clean water and learn about hygiene – a vital combination that saves lives.'

I can't read the sign very well. What's the point? I mean, what does each twinned toilet offer the user or town?

It is hanging, glass framed, in the Gents toilet in the church hall (I did check I was on my own before I got my camera out, btw, hence the poor quality of the pic..

When I saw the thread title I thought it was about plumbing for couples who were inseparable. On the other hand, if it's about helping communities to improve their sanitation, then I give it 👍

Even in India, which is a nuclear super power, just about everyone has a mobile phone, yet only about 50% of the population has access to a flush toilet. Though you might think that such a nation might be better sorting out sanitation before buying nuclear weapons.

However, for other, poorer nations, I still think the notion is sound. The main improvement for global health that has occurred in the last 100 years has been due to access to clean water, and this is a move in this direction.

Nope - I was told about it 6 or 7 years ago!

Before he left Nick took a selfie of us gathered in front of the medieval church at Mitton. I'm sure he will be along to post that at some point.

@Blue Hills told me some time ago that the church has a 'twinned toilet', which was something I had never heard of. If you have £60 to spare for a good cause, visit the charity's website. And for those of you, like BH, who are interested in old churches - take a look at this article.
