Toll Roads: TAG Lane Etiquette

Perhaps the driver who annoyed you is on this forum and was annoyed at you describing yourself as a "freeloader" in the text below your avatar?

It's possible to have toll roads without tollbooths. Don't blame a confused driver for poorly thought through infrastructure.

Too serious: Write out 1000 times, " I must learn to lighten up" in ink please, no copying and pasting.

You need the auto billing system like at the dartford crossing. Somehow they have managed to remove the barriers yet make the queue to the tunnels worse than when the barriers were still there.
It's almost like allowing more motorists to get to constrained-width roads more quickly doesn't reduce congestion. That can't be right, else we wouldn't keep widening the naffing roads outside towns "to cure congestion", would we?

If you think about it it is not hard to see how and why it happened .

4 lanes plus the junction and cross laners. The old barriers opened the 4 lanes into a 20 lane holding pen in effect. The barriers regulated flow into tunnel

Only gets really bad heading north though .
Do the roadworks and speed limit between J31 & J30 have a knock on effect? And I guess running convoys of Hazchem lorries through slows things down, neither of which happen southbound. Having watched eons of my life drain away as I queued for the toll booths, it's a big improvement.

2000 lines and a two page essay on the inside of a ping pong ball.
Is that a 2 page essay on the inside of a ping pong ball or a 2 page essay on the inside of a ping pong ball?

It is an improvement in overall time as the queue is moving constantly rather stop start ( has been when I have used) and I like the ease of paying ( and reduced rate).

Just driven down between J31 & J30 didn't see any tolls at all, got all the way to Chesterfield with no issues

A few years ago I arrived at the barrier at the Dartford Crossing all smug as I'd got my £1 coin ready before I left. I was in a hire car and went to wind the window down to lob the coin in the basket, but there was no window button there where one would normally expect to find one. No handle or anything and I was too near the basket to open the door easily, so after a good 2-3 minutes of faffage that felt like a lifetime, I finally found the button to wind the window down (tucked away underneath the handbrake FFS!)

Luckily, as we all know, everyone down there is really patient and polite so there was no blearing of horns or hand gestures from the queue behind at all. O no .
