Dunno what it is about cams. They seem to repel incidents for some folk here, but since I got mine I've had more than I'm used to. I haven't been tooted at for over two years before this!

No way am I getting out of this clowns way, if he thinks we can both get through there he aint getting the chance!

I'd like to have included some examples of patient WVM at similar points in the journey, but my PC can't handle long vids without crashing.

This video, linked on the same page, was a very good example of why you did the right thing:

Archie, I hope you're going to report that to the company right? Please do it, if only for the rest of the cyclists in the area.
Mikey, I honestly don't think I'd get very far. It's a local electrical contractor, possibly a one man band, probably six employees tops. They're just as likely to band together as apologise.

In the scheme of things it's not the worst example of driving. I can handle the bullies, I was just putting my point over as to why I did what I did.

Great music Archie - so much better than the usual heavy breathing
Cheers! It's part of the fun of making vids for me, thinking of tracks to add. Plus it gets rid of that nasty rumble you get from the handlebars. Had to include some sound on this one though, as it was integral to the plot.

If getting tooted is the worst we get, then we'll be alright. Proves your positioning was spot on.

Mark E Smith was in a pub near my old office nr Gould St, Manchester once. I heard him moaning to his companion about effing office twunts. Brilliantly grumpy old man.

I think you'll find that most of those other people, Magnatom etc., most likely put the camera on and instantly feel invincible on the roads leading to them riding around with supreme confidence, taking a dominant lane position etc. This will be the real reason that they get given extra room by most motorists, not the presence of the camera.

I still think you should report it, and tell them they are on youtube now. If you don't report it, you have guaranteed that there will be no change in their behaviour.

Drivel.

I ride the same way with a camera as without a camera, I take a dominant road position wherever it is safer to do so than not to do so. The camera, whe I use it, is positioned prominently on top of my helmet. I get less bad treatment on the road when I'm using it, specifically, most bus and taxi drivers give me more space, largely because I believe (in this town at least) word is out about helmet cameras.

I think you over estimate the power of the cam,the people involved here and on the roads who use and post about them is a drop in the ocean in the real world,Do you not think that it just might be that there are decent motorists out there, and they are doing what decent motorists do?

Cyclists are close in number to motorists here in Cambridge, and negotiating roads full of cyclists is an important skill for a professional driver herer. There are several cyclists with cameras, and, really, those on the roads all day and every day are wise to their presence. Thus wear the camera obviously and plainly in Cambridges roads and you get better treatment from those drivers. Doesn't mean that they're ALL smart enough to 'get it', of course.

In front of Magdelene college theres a narrow section of road where traffic entering the city has priority over traffic leaving the city. Without the camera I get two to three instances of idiots driving right at me there per week. With the camera I average less than that per month.

So most drivers in cambridge must read this or other cycling forums ?unless they have been done with cam footage as proof, but that really shows a bad record for all those drivers in cambridge if thats the case?

Stop acting thick; there are multiple cyclists in Cambridge with cameras, and word gets out among bus and taxi drivers quite quickly when one of their number gets disciplined due to such footage. Wear a camera here, wear it prominently, and you get less trouble from such classes of drivers.
