Toothpaste - the Search Begins

Our neurodivergent kids couldn't tolerate mint toothpaste so we've tried a few and settled on hismile.

I am genuinely excited about trying this. Excellent find!!

Kingfisher Fennel Toothpaste with Flouride.

I'll second that. I've used it for years and my dental hygienist is pleased with the results as well.

My dentist stopped me using that toothpaste. He reckons it is not a healthy brand due to what it contains.

The toothpaste is completely pointless once you are in adulthood apparently. Anyhoo - not the point, my wife will require me to use toothpaste. I just need one that is tolerable - i.e. not very minty.

Well the fluoride in it is pretty useful to be fair, which would put me off Euthymol which is proudly fluoride free.

Spit but dont rinse, otherwise you just wash off the fluoride. if you use a mouthwash, do that before brushing not after for same reason.

Does anyone else loathe mint or is it just me?

I don't like anything much, Colgate Total is awful, requires some effort to stop myself from retching. Sensodyne doesn't really taste strongly of anything so I'm using that.

I use Arm & Hammer Advance White toothpaste in the mornings after breakfast, and I use Colgate Optic White Advanced (2% Hydrogen Peroxide) in the evening before bed. Both times I brush for at least 5 minutes across the top and bottom teeth, and up and down front and back of the top and bottom teeth. I floss every day, I use tooth picks after every bite of food, I flush my mouth (and gargle) with Listerine antiseptic mouthwash every night after cleaning, I visit the dentist every 6 month for a complete cleaning and whatever remedial work needs to be done. That's me. A clean fresh healthy mouth is what I strive for. Who wouldn't want that?
A healthy mouth is where it all starts for a healthy body.

I switched from a stripy one to Arm and Hammer. Seems to solve my ulcer problem. What do they put in normal toothpaste?

Similar here - I have a very sensitive tongue (apparently) and anything overly minty sets it off (not just toothpastes) but I found the Arm & Hammer range to be the least minty mint flavoured out there, so that's what I ended up using.

I knew the manny who brought out Kingfisher toothpaste. He still runs a successful wholefood business and when he put Kingfisher on sale, apparently the army were interested.
He then had the 'clash of interest' whether this contradicted his principles or go ahead with a 'nice little earner'.
Don't know what the outcome was.

Been using Euthymol for several years. It's inexpensive and, as has been alluded to, something of an aquired taste, but it works for me.

I like mint but not minty toothpaste. The flavour lingers for far too long.
Euthymol and A&H don't taste 'nice' but the flavour fades within a couple of minutes.

Following your tip off, I took a look at the site and then asked Father Christmas for the blackcurrant flavoured one.

Unbeknownst to me, a conversation took place between my wife and my teens.

Wife: Daddy has asked for this weird toothpaste (shows request)
Teen: How does he know about HiSmile?
Wife: What do you mean?
Teen 1: Well he's like old and it's literally all over tiktok. He doesn't use tiktok.
Teen 2: Yeah, it's like gone viral.

Anyway - come Christmas day I get 4 different flavours of HiSmile (Sweet Apple, Raspberry, Strawberry and Zesty Lemon).

Me: "How come you got me 4 flavours?"
Wife: You can get it at Superdrug for £4.

So it appears that HiSmile is a viral sensation and is now available at all good supermarkets. Well Superdrug anyway.

The important thing is that HiSmile is AMAZING. Best thing since sliced bread. Finally I can brush my teeth without shuddering.

If anyone else is looking for toothpaste that actually tastes nice but still leaves a refreshing feel to the mouth. THIS IS IT!
