load of old bollocks really. i've no truck with the gay revisionists, and i saw that film as a hormonal teenager and never once did it cross my mind that the pilots were anything other than, well, pilots. some of the so-called gay hairstyles etc were merely popular during the time, even if they have become 'gay' subsequently. as an example, in the '80s it was considered quite macho and straight to look like george michael, who then went on to out himself so spectacularly.
