Touch Screen GPS

I am considering either a Garmin Dakota 20 or an Etrex 20 GPS.

The big difference between the two is the Dakota is "touch screen." In practice how good is this? Doesnt the screen get smeared with sweaty finger marks?

Both have similar capabilities and run on AA batteries which is important to me .

I'd have thought a touchscreen wouldn't work well in the rain either.

It seems ok on the Edge800 but I have a cover on it if it helps but it is a pain when you forget to lock the keys before putting it in your pocket at the cafe

My 800 works fine in the rain, and also with gloves on.

It is resistive touch screen not capacitive like a mobile phone, therefore it works fine in the rain and with gloves. However, it is nowhere near as responsive.

In short, it works, but it isn't slick.

Thanks for the replies. I have just now bought a Dakota 20 with touch screen. If I ever work out how to use it I will report back on how it goes.
