So, tomorrow we move onto what is undoubtedly the Queen stage. The three HC monsters account for almost 70kms of this 170km stage. Many, many vertical metres of ascent.

Date: 24/07
Stage 18:- Vif - Courchevel (Col de la Loze) (171.5 km)
Vertical metres: 5642

Tomorrow is guaranteed to be a stonking stage with loads of attacks and one of Pog or Vini cracking. How do I know? I'm in the office and have a meeting that will last all day thus I'll miss the whole stage.

It will be less crowded from Sault and yes not as unrelenting as up thru the forest from Bedoin. I did it years ago (from Bedoin), back down to Sault for lunch and then a lovely ride thru Gorge de la Nesque back to Bedoin - which if you can incorporate any of that into your itinerary I would strongly recommend, it was breath-takingly beautiful.

you’re the second person to recommend that route! I just mapped it and my legs hurt already! I think it will depend on how I’m feeling! The spirit is very willing but the legs are weak…

Finding live stuff in a timely manner among all the football/rugby and nothing ever seems to be listed or advertised properly.

Categories - Sport. if its not obvious down to Sport A-Z and presumably C for cycling or T for Tour of Britain. Once you have watched or part of one should be listed on the main screen

I'm stuck at work tomorrow but will record the whole day's coverage on ITV. Then going to do a "Bob and Terry" and try to avoid seeing the result.

The positive is I can fast forward through all the dead dog and donkey adverts

Most route mapping software make it look like there is lots of up and down as you run down the gorge, there isn't, it's about 20km of 1-3% smooth down hill. There is a small climb from Sault to get there, and a couple of small uphills back to Bedoin. I had a bit of help on that last bit as two kind Italians slowed up and gave me a wheel to suck back to Bedoin.
