On the face of it, tomorrow should be a stage for the breakaway, as the GC boys take a day off to rest after those arduous mountain stages.........right?

Stage 15
Sunday, July 20th.
Muret - Carcassonne 169.3kms.

..............................wrong. Tomorrow could see pandemonium and dramatic movement in that GC. Why? you may ask.........well....

Meaning much of the route has a cross tailwind. Yum, yum.

I said yesterday Arensman looked like he could win a stage. Great ride by him today but his inconsistency must be frustrating for the team.

I was surprised the TNT lot were so adamant Pog would go after the stage. Surely even he realises that stopping breaks getting a win will go against him in the end. The only way it was kicking off was a Jonas attack (as it did briefly) and in the end Pog got to assert his authority in the final 100m without alienating other teams.

It’s interesting how things turn around in a few days too. All the talk in the first week was of UAE’s team looking under pressure whereas today Narvaez outlasted all the VLAB support, Yates was there most of the way and Soler / Sivakov put in big stints. Happy to see Campenaerts doing so well though.
