Maybe Pog is saving a little bit for a tilt at the Vuelta

Mad to think how he’s crushing this tour and there still will be no one anywhere near challenging him at the Vuelta , as things stand.

Thank heavens UAE haven't been tip top. Almeida crashing out was a big blow, and neither Sivakov or Soler have really been able to contribute too much. Narvaez has exceeded expectations, and Adam Yates has probably been just about on par.

Sivakov did a massive stint at the foot of Superbagneres yesterday, Soler has been working hard. I think all our judgements are a little skewed by the fact we've only really had two proper mountain stages, three if you count the Bastille day cat twos, but that was never going to allow much more than a bit of light sparring

Vuelta...Worlds....Lombardy and Strictly ?

And then bow out with a "That's all folks!"?

Given that he always maintains his form for Lombardia, he may as well have a tilt, especially if the field isn't super strong. I suppose internal politics may play a role, as you'd imagine Ayuso and del Toro are going to do it, and possibly Almeida too. Throw in Majka, Vine, and McNulty and he could have stronger climbing support than he's had at the Tour.

I find it easy to forget how many good riders UAE have squirrelled away

Haven't the team already confirmed that the Vuelta is in his plans?

That was an impressive ride by Ben Healy, coming in 7th on that stage alongside Roglic and moving back into the top 10.

Top ten should be doable

Wind forecast not as strong as predicted earlier. Shame . ... A lot of the lumpy section of the race after the cat 2 is woodland too .

Pog is still a human being . He just needs to.ride to Paris . Stealing a few secs each uphill day seems a wise use of effort . Having a collapse in the Alps or catching a cold.... Best to keep something in the tank

The pity is he's realised this - or UAE bosses have convinced him. I preferred it when he thought he was invincible but cracked

Just seeing an Interview with Skjelmose from last night
Nothing broken, but lost the skin on the inside of the whole of his left arm
It was a solo accident and his own fault, when they came out of the roundabout they were pressed into one lane and he tried to hop over the traffic island to maintain some speed. There's footage of it and he goes straight into the sign (luckily padded) and flies over it, full somersault. Shades of Offredo in Paris-Roubaix and Cav in Milan-San Remo

He was nine minutes down when he got to the intermediate and lost another minute shortly after. They were concerned he couldn't use both hands properly on the descents and the team took a decision with him to pull out as they didn't think he could get back and continuing would be indefensible.
