No, but my point was that the green doesn't get won (or held for large chunks) by riders getting in breaks to pick up intermediate points which is what happens with the KOM.

It doesn't usually work for the Polka either as that usually ends up being worn by someone on behalf of the Yellow jersey.

Well they did change it after Cav won six then five stages but didn't win Green (Hushovd '09, Petacchi '10)

Eventually and more so in recent years. You still get people dropping time so they can chase it though - maybe they should make a first French rider jersey instead.

Do Visma go for stages now ?

Big mountain stage tomorrow, so there's possibly still a hail Mary attempt. I don't see anyone else in the team winning that one at any rate.
After that there's two stages for Van Aet to hunt - though I reckon Jonas finally wins the time he needs on the Montmartre....

What a different stage it could have been had that very early attack by Jonas got a gap. I think he genuinely wanted to go all in but ultimately didn't have the legs to do it and I don't see that changing overnight.

I think that's right. It's turning into a very boring tour since the pyrenees. I think Pog has more in the tank but wants to keep his powder dry for the Vuelta.

Visma seem to be getting pelters for tactics, but there is little they can do.

Red Bull- I have no idea what they were doing beyond trying to gift third to Onley.

Tomorrow is going to be really interesting in that battle for third. Onley looked absolutely mentally and physically whacked afterwards, but I don't think Lipowitz is going to be in any better shape.

Incredible performance from Onley today. He just has to do it all over again tomorrow. Following Pog & Vin to the top was super impressive.

Probably O'Connor's best win I'd say too. He must be in Cloud 9.

Can't think of a more unlikely stage winner than WVA - in almost 3 weeks he's done a couple of 500m uphill sprints which came to nothing.

I mean that's enough to get David Millar wetting his pants - but a pretty anonymous tour from WVA .....or the mighty wout van aert as everyone seems to call him
