It should be the best climber over the whole race, not just the best climber up to the final climb on each mountain stage. Maybe have a KOM point 2 kms from the top on the final climb, but the final climb has to count or it is a joke competition

Put the HC climbs and points in the middle of a stage?

They should just make it the lowest overall time on all the categorized climbs. So pure climbing GC without TT's and hilly stages.

Enjoyed that, I’m not sure I’d want it every year but imagine it at the end of a tight GC without the GC neutralisation. The biggest issue if there simply no way for team cars to get through so a puncture could cause a GC change. I felt like the tight bends in the early part of the climb hampered Pog a bit as they stopped him going for the sustained seated attack but from the first lap I never felt he could get enough on the climb to hold them off on the wet descent. We also now know that VLAB’s masterplan since week 2 was to tire out Pog so Wout could beat him on the final stage.

Maybe alternate stage 21 each year ... Sprint year Montmartre year

Just what I was thinking!

I 'king loved today, but the "Sprinters World Championship" is a worthy tradition.
(And I think someone already said: why would the Sprinters bother slogging thru the mountains for this?)

So I think I’m right in saying that Hinault remains the last rider to win the final road stage of the Tour whilst wearing yellow. Here’s the result from Pro Cycling Stats, he beat Matthieu’s dad into second with that year’s green jersey King Kelly in 11th. The late Paul Sherwen up in 8th.
