I think Pogačar had every intention of trying to win back to back on the Alpe.
However, given the state of his team, I think they will struggle to control stage 20. Now, I think it’s up for grabs.

It could be. I want to know where Yates ends up today - I saw him dropping off what I thought was the peloton, but it was the grupetto

Mads P coming in on about 24 minutes

Some time cut coefficients and info.... just in case it becomes something of interest...

Today's was coefficient 3 - there are no coefficient 4 stages left

Today's winning speed was 41.72 km/h, so time cut is 17%, which gives a cut of 44:17 when applied to the 4:26:21 finish time

(I didn't actually make the calculation, just copied it from the countdown ticker on the offical site...)

Yates came in fine btw - a little ahead of the main grupetto, led in by Campenaerts

By my count, there's a single rider still out there with just under 4 minutes to get in
No idea who it is though

Tim WEllens, of course.
Just slipped in with a little over a miniute to spare

That's either some exceptional taking it easy before a couple of very hard stages, or absolutely grovelling over the line ready for an absolute battering tomorrow

UAE could well be down at least another man by the end of play tomorrow. There’s a tough 2nd Cat straight after the flag which is going to put a lot of riders in difficulty.

The cynic in me says just watch the fake mechanicals in the neutral zone…

Errrrr.... That's a very strange comparison. Especially as this is the tightest points jersey race in years.

Whilst I was mainly joking, it's still the same in as much as both he and Pog have taken every opportunity to win the respective jerseys.

I suppose it is different though as the equivalent would be Pog going into breaks to pick up intermediate time bonuses and then hoping to minimise any time losses at the end of the stage :boxing:

Absolutely shouldn't have had that Salade Américaine on the rest day..... Not with actual American salad leaves at any rate.

If they muck with the Cat 2 then Mads will have their livers with some fava beans and a nice Chianti, he needs that to try and get in the break again - the Cat 1 afterwards is probably a touch too much for him if the break hasn't already settled
