Was half expecting Campenaerts to pretend to sprint for that, just for shïts and giggles

That was a lot of work from Mads to get that, and he'll be needing to repay Campenaerts for a bit longer here.
Behind him his direct competitors picked up the next three positions, so it was all for 5 points on Kanter, and 9 and 11 on Philipsen and Girmay (not sure which way round...)

Campenaerts just wasting energy. Pedersen will sit up after the IS leaving him all alone.

He gave him about 5km after, but it was clear the peloton were coming back and there wasn't really a counter after the sprint to form a new break

Oh absolutely, who wouldn't want to be in a break with one of the biggest engines in the sport, who isn't even looking for a stage win?

I think most of the peloton thought that UAE wouldn't let him get any real time though, and with Mads with him thought it would be a fight to stay ahead of the sprinter teams until after the intermediate.

So here with 5 riders getting away - do Visma try and get a man in it "for later", or do they just want to see enough riders get enough time to neutralise bonus seconds?
