patron isn't he?

Think it's gone a bit past patron (old school at any rate). Maybe I'm just thinking of Big Mig as the gentleman patron, trading a stage win for work/time on GC. I don't really remember that much of Hinault (certainly not in detail) and I decided to skip the Armstrong years (less patron, more Evil Despot)

Looking back at the slomo of Kuss, that was a close call with the netting - not much distance left in the protection

Incidentally, from 2010 to 2020, the average gap between 1st and 10th was 13 minutes 42 seconds. It was 18 minutes in the first two Pogacar victories. The last four years it's averaged over half an hour, which is well outside the norm on the race (typically around 15-20 minutes is the norm over the last 40 years or so).

I didn't see the incident but he's definitely got beef about it, says he was cut up on the corner

The door was closed slightly without being shut completely.
Enough to give Carapaz pause for thought.
