Shimano RT32's. Think they're discontinued, but a few places may still have stock. A nice, practical, reasonably light touring shoe.

Rt32's seem sold out on web especially in an 11 but look the sort of thing I'm after. I also looked at north wave mtb shoes for winter.
The specialised look trick but not really for winter with the mesh front. Cool looking shoe though
Thank you for the recommendations, will keep looking for the RT32's as well

I've had the rt82 for nearly 3 years. They are about to be replaced but have done 3 tours, daily commuting and many many 100mile+ rides. My guess is they have done around 25,000 miles, should of been replaced around 20,000 but haven't because I'm a cheap bastard.

Would 100% recommend!

Thanks they look a great choice. Would they be suitable for use on canal paths, bridle ways and the like on single speed day one or a more mtb shoe better? Or am I getting into the relms of needing more than one shoe for different rides ?

Ones that fit you

I can't see why the type of shoe is affected by the surface being ridden. Any shoe that is comfortable with a recessed cleat will work on any bike

Type of shoe is not affected by surface but walking on a cleated road shoe on say salters fell track is probably not wise but a touring shoe may be ok so hence the reason I'm asking advise from those in the know
Correct fitting shoe goes without saying

Get a touring or mtb shoe with recessed cleat

It's hard to recommend a specific shoe as they all fit differently

The Giro Rumble will do all that mixed/utility stuff, comfortable enough to walk in and no velcro!

Keen also makes a sandal you might want to look at. Depends on the time of year you plan on touring. I would also consider regular shoes with a Power Strap type 'device' which you can buy with/without pedals
