I have a stumpy for MTBing but moving into town and want a bike to bomb around the town on and lock up in town etc. Obv don't want to use stumpy for that as it will get nicked.

Looking for a decent bike with decent brakes that is nippy and agile and robust enough to be left outside.

I don't like drop handle roadie bikes, and I would prefer something with 26" wheels. I would like to be able to put some schwalbe big apples or fat franks as i think they could be fun for town use.(although I have never used them before)

any ideas?

Obv. something cheapish. I have also been considering a single gear such as Specialized Globe san francisco. But again I have no experience with single gear bikes (not since i was 10 anyway!) so not sure how it will handle hills and get aways from the lights etc.

Unless you live somewhere incredibly hilly, any "commuter" fixie should be geared sensibly, that plus 26" wheels you shouldn't have any trouble if you go that route.

When I was looking, someone recommend this. I didn't get it though so can't comment on it.
