Well done, mags. Great to finally meet you today -and apologies to HLaB for not introducing myself at the massage queue. I started earlier, had a shorter lunch and finished round about the same time as you (after doing my penance for taking a shortcut), but with an average of 15.1 mph - which I am very pleased about, with curtailed training and a few more years under my belt than most on the ride today.

I have to agree that it was a superbly well-organised event. Only let-down was the state of the road in the last few miles before we got back into Stirling - something they need to look at for next year, because it was uncomfortable and, I would say, dangerous.

Oh well I'll say Hello now boydj, well done !

Good on you magnatom. My story is identical, except average speed was a few mph slower than yourself (13.5 mph for the day)- well I am 17 stone ...!! Totally agree with everyones comments - really well organised event, but the last stage from Carrion Bridge was HARD going. A spoke came loose , as did my bottle cage with all the vibration, , so aswell as praying i din't get a flat from my loose spoke and losing my pump and water bottle on one of the bone rattling descents (which i managed to find) I did finally manage to cross the finish line .... :-) Hats off to to AMR though, a great event and one which I would return for next year- just hope the final section is not so rough and full of energy sapping descents/ascents. Looks like I'll just need to lose a couple of stone ....!

Supremely well done, Maggers.

No way I'll ever keep up with you and HlaB on PfS this year. It'll seem like a complete breeze to you on your sleek steed with your battle-hardened legs ! ;)

Thanks guys, and well done boydj and chrisp (and welcome to the forum!)

Yes it was good to meet you boydj. Did the massage help your thigh?

As for you taking a short cut, there is some dispute about that. Some say that the short cut was the correct route and that we took a wrong turn (I was part of a pelton, so not my fault if we did! ;))

I'll check my tracking data (I ran two different trackers) and compare it with the official route.

My hamstrings tendons (that connect at the back of my knee are a bit sore today and generally a little stiff, but not too bad. I did chicken it today and got a lift in the car with my wife!

My total ride time was 6 hours 13 mins. Very chuffed with this. It will be quite a challenge to beat that next year!

Showing 4 mph now. I can recognise that hill. Indeed, last year mags and I struggled up it into a strong headwind on one of the central Scotland forum rides.

Which hill was that? I can't remember?

I should point out that the speed readings aren't always accurate!;)

Nice report Magnetman - good riding and. with the other CCers it sounds like fun - with a big appreciation of the 'riding together' thing!

Shame your recovery ride took place in the cage this morning though...;)

Well done. Well done all.

Thank you kindly! ;)

Remember the average speed was significantly helped by the pelton over the first 20 mile ish section. I loved that part so much I might consider looking for a local club to join. I think I still need a bit of work on the hills first.

I'm thinking of taking part in this next.

Well done....just take it easy tomorrow - your knees will ache a fair bit.....
Amazingly my knees are fine today. That's even more amazing considering I've had three ops on one of my knees!

Just sore hamstring tendons. This suggests I might need to adjust my saddle a little.
