Did you experience 'it'?

Ah, this is the question, where, if I have to ask what the question means, then I have answered the question, i.e. I haven't experience 'it'. If, however,I have experience 'it' then I am now in the know and all I have to do is reply with a knowing wink that I am completely with 'it'.

In answer to your question......maybe. (that isn't a knowing wink, by the way)

Yes it was good to meet you boydj. Did the massage help your thigh?

As for you taking a short cut, there is some dispute about that. Some say that the short cut was the correct route and that we took a wrong turn (I was part of a pelton, so not my fault if we did!)

Thanks, Mags - and yes, the massage was a big help - though both legs were nipping away in bed last night, probably due to a bit if dehydration. Lesson for next year - start drinking early and drink lots, at frequent intervals.

I checked the official map and my group definitely cut the course - which is why I had to do a lap of Stirling town centre to get the mileage over the magic 'ton' before officially finishing - much to the amusement of the steward on the gate when I went past him for the first time.

I think the 'it' Lee is talking about is what marathon runners call the 'wall' and cyclist call the 'bonk' - when your glycogen reserves run out and you are surviving on your fat reserves and whatever you can get into your system from what you consume during the event. If you are well prepared, it comes on gradually and you are able to cope - otherwise it can very quickly bring you to a shuddering stop. I've done it both ways when running marathons - and it can be devastating.

A wee picture at the end. Do I look tired? Can you see the midge bites?

(Me and HLaB)

You both look incredibly Scottish good considering the distance you have just ridden.

Aye, I got through 6 750ml bottles of energy drink over the course of the day (and only one small wee at the lunch stop!. Where did it go?!

I felt I never got to chat properly to you, as I was distracted at the start and we were all moaning about midges and sore legs at the end! Make sure you come along to a CC ride in the future!

Which hill was that? I can't remember?

I should point out that the speed readings aren't always accurate!

You had just come off the Crow Road, the fun bit over and were now heading east back toward the Carron Valley up a particularly steep bit.

Ah, yes. I didn't recognise it. It shows how far I have come since then, as the hill was a pain, but no where near as bad as on that ride with you and Quickdraw.

I've lost two water bottles coming down there the other way!
