My new recent purchase has been an Elite Force (magnitism) trainer.

This basic trainer is definitely helping me to improve my fitness!

I am now able to get a decent work out on the not so nice days. When I do ride on the open road, I have noticed a difference - improved stamina and less huffing and puffing :becool:

Does anybody else use their trainer regularly?

Why could you not get a decent work out on the not so nice days prior to obtaining this device?

I love my turbo.

I've done a year or two of the macho 'I ride in all weathers' thing, but to be honest it's cold, wet, generally crap and I think I look like a twat, and I struggle to do decent interval work when I'm worried about sliding out on the ice or wet. Plus all of the associated debris and diluted cow sh1t that get sprayed over you and your bike around here.

Much rather have a brew and put the sufferfest on. :boxing:

I used mine a lot when recovering from my back operation, it was nice just to turn the pedals. I have a 'smart' trainer, so I have a little bit of interest level with things such as Zwift or Real Life Videos. It is good, but you cannot beat the real thing - except when that real thing is bucketing down with rain.

But then your balance and control skills degrade, leaving you less able to properly exploit the fitness. They should be used as part of a balanced diet, with consideration for the big picture.

We recently discovered a new cycle track near Nelson and have been along for a few of the Monday evening training sessions run by Cycle Sport Pendle volunteers. The hour of constant hard riding and accelerations is a lot more fun than a turbo session and very beneficial.

I want one of those ones where you can link in to the telly and pretend you're doing the TdF...one mile at a time.

Definitely agree with you............BUT I tend to use mine only in winter so as to keep up some level of fitness. It is sooooo boring that I can only manage 45 minutes max'.........say 3 times per week but flat out it helps a lot.

My trainer is in the shower. It mimic rain without the crap sprayed up at me. And the bike gets a wash.

Just kidding. Riding in the rain is enormous fun for me and I havent got a trainer just for that reason. But its fine however you get your work out, indoors or out.

Too true!
My core strength really suffered this winter from being turbo only and, ahem, forgetting where the swiss ball was and how to do planks :shy:
