That's big call. I mean, yes he's thirty now, so it's unlikely he's on a big upwards curve, but he's still only getting beaten in a TT by the greatest TTer ever to get on a weird aero bike thing - without Remco he'd have 5 golds at WC and one at Olympics for ITT. Not to mention he actually won his first semi classic this year. Whether or not his focus will turn back to the Olympic track events I don't know, it looks very much like it had a big effect on his 2024 road season

Tend to agree but whilst the behemoths are out there, second place is the first loser etc.

Bernal's current deal ends this year. You'd imagine any new deal with NCI (I read on one of the rumour places that a new deal had been offered) will be for significantly less money.

Sheffield has so much promise but struggles to keep it rubber side down unfortunately

Ganna - maybe they think they have two very similar riders in him and Tarling?

He's actually got a contract until '29, but he is genuinely thinking about calling it a day - his own statement here:

Such an unfortunate accident he had, he was looking at the time like he was just about to dominate.
Having said that, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere (Maybe on here or the BR forum) that it was reported his power numbers he was hitting (After the comeback) were better than when he won the tour, but it simply appears the level has increased and surpassed where he was at his then peak.
Perhaps accident or no accident he would still not be really competitive, or maybe without that interruption he would have found a way to raise his game to meet the new level - we'll never know of course.

Where could he go I wonder, EF perhaps?
Would Q36.5 be an odd destination for him - not sure how tied in he is with Pinarello?

Bernal was struggling before his injury. Was it a back injury caused by different length legs? He really struggled to win that Giro despite his closest challenger been some elderly nobody. He could go to UAE and be like Simon Yates at JV.

Scoliosis. I don't remember him struggling to win, he had a fairly comfortable lead for quite a while, though he did look like his back was giving him some issues.
