I have always carried my bikes on the roof for the last 15 years with no damage or problems of any sort but i use a rack that you need to remove the front wheel and clamp the forks in place with a skewer and carry the wheel on a dummy pair of forks clamped to the roof bars. This type of rack avoids the need to clamp the frame and avoid potential problems of frame damage.

That's exactly what I do with my bikes too, carbon or otherwise. 100+mph no problem. All the way to Italy.

And Dellzeg, it's not only carbon frames that get damaged by car park barriers. I managed to destroy my 653 race bike in France with it on the roof driving into a height barriered car park.

Cheers everybody. Looks like the roof rack, with fork mounts is the way to go.

Just need to choose the bike now...
