There's a branch of the The Electric Transport Shop in York in the same street as the bike cafe, so that might be worth a look to see some higher end ebikes.

I know what you mean about the likes of Costa, although I have noticed the prices vary.

There's one in Sunderland which is not too dear, presumably because Sunderland is not a prosperous area.

There's another in Durham City - in the County Hotel - which is also fairly cheap to appeal to students.

The manager there told me he'd rather the place was busy than charge top dollar.

He also remarked the students tend to bring their mummies and daddies in when they visit, and they are good spenders.

It's a bit more complicated than that...

For a coffee drinker, who thinks that strong British tea is an utter abomination, I like knowing that I can get a reliably decent cup of coffee. I'd rather spend £2 on a coffee that I know will be drinkable than £1.25 on something that's either been stewing in a pot for hours or has been spooned out of a catering tin.

Pub choice but The Thomas Lord in West Meon is a must if you are near the South Downs!

Snakecatcher in Brockenhurst, New Forest if you are that way (I only do pubs on my routes-all about the chips!)
