Prop stand on a road bike
Why not lol? better than dropping in the hedgerow when you stop to take a photo. Something I have always wanted on my bike as I hate trying to hold it up while taking picture, putting gloves on, mounting lights etc

My two don't even have the fixings for a prop stand! I expect that may be the answer  If stopping, I would just stand astride the bike, e.g to put gloves on. Things get fixed to my bikes while in the house, not out side - or if so, when attached to a Sheffield stand...or by a bike shop

What's a hedgerow, not got many in these parts

The Triban 3 doesn't have braze ons to allow you to fit THIS type of mudguard sadly. You could still fit them by using P CLIPS, or you can use THESE that are specifically designed for bikes without braze ons.

They Crud ones are effective, but they aren't as good as 'proper' guards IMO.

+1 for propstand?

No no never a prop stand - except on an old Dutch roadster! Next you will be wanting an air horn as well.
There's always something to rest a bike against - but if not lie it down gently. (but if you really really want a prop stand and don't mind narrow minded people like me thinking you look like a dork), you will find it difficult to fit the standard type that fits in the small triangle by the bottom bracket because you have a bottom pull cable for the front dérailleur running through it so you may find a chain stay mounted one like this easier.

Mudguards are very difficult to fit on the Triban as you have extremely limited clearance especially on the front fork. I think Mr Crud Roadracer mk2's are the best bet.

A carrier can be fitted - but why not try a seat post mounted model? Dead easy to fit and remove as you wish. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Raleigh-S..._Cycling_Bags_Panniers_SR&hash=item2a1edcaf0b

PS only joking about looking like a dork.....now I ride a recumbent I am reliably told by my wife that I look like King of the Dorks!
(Mind you young boys think I look cool and say things like " that bikes wicked!")

Yes, Edwards80 has them on his, he even has them decorated in our club colours  I thought he had a bell on his bike the last time I saw him but it was the front part of the rear Raceblade twanging off the frame, lol!

Am surprised - even the Cruds are a fiddle to squeeze into the gap on the front fork. Lots of previous discussions on here and up to your post I have not heard anyone else report that they had actually managed to fit any other full mudguards.

Raceblades are not really "full mudguards". They are built to the same purpose as Crud Roadracers, except they are much more rigid and give better coverage, they also easily remove via quick release mechanisms. The only part of the Crud's that is superior is the bit that stops the front mech getting covered in shoot. The Raceblades don't come down far enough in front of the back wheel, BUT it is very easy to mod them to do so.

Forum member Satnavsaysstraighton has fitted a rack and mudguards to her Triban 3.

yep - I have a rack (it will take any rack - it has all the necessary bosses, no need to P clamps or a QR skewer mounted rack) and bodged a fit for the SKS full length mudguards. I am running with 25mm tyres so there was no space for the mudguards to go under the frame area - had to improvise a touch - cutting the mudguards off at that point. Still looking for a better way of fitting the rear mudguard at the back of the rear brakes. At the moment it uses the rack to hold it in place, but it rattles a touch. Still it has worked and the crap getting to the chain is significantly less which when you have to ride through as much muck & mud as I do just to get out of my (dead-end) lane, it is worth it and I live at the very end of it. It has probably extended the life of my chain by double. My OH has the same bike and we are having to replece both chains at the same time despite the fact I have done almost twice the distance he has done.

If you really want a 'prop stand' can I suggest you consider a click stand instead? they are an order only basis and custom made, but considerably lighter and will hold a fully laden touring bike, so should have no issues with the T3. Weight difference is 75g to somewhere over a kg, http://www.click-stand.com/ and won't look anywhere near as odd on a road bike! I am pretty certain you can get them in a matching red as well

Thanks for all the replies.

The mudguards aren't essential, I can live without them.

Will try a cheapie propstand off eBay and see whether it fits in the frame triangle.

I have a seat post mounted rack but would prefer something fixed on.

We'll see.

Thanks!
