Been on the Decathlon website but not sure about the sizes of the above bike. Looking to purchase a Triban 3 for my son as they are down to £249. He is approx 5ft.3in so was wondering if the 51 was ok or too small ? Also if it was right on the limit and that a 54 would be better. Which if the case is a shame as they don`t have those left on sale!

Anyone vertically challenged like to comment  Of course my fear is that he may start sprouting up and be out of a small sized bike by the time he is 14!

I bought the 54 for my then 11yr old Daughter in January 2102 and she was about 5ft 2 ish and lots of people here said it was waaaaaay too big a frame for her despite them not seeing her on it as they had " years of experience with selling bikes" she has had a major growth spurt this year and it fits absolutely perfect now and i have raised the seat from bottom stop a good inch or 2. I put a shorter stem top on it which made it more comfortable for her but have now reverted back .

I bought the 51cm, I'm 5ft 3 with a 29 inch leg and I don't think I could fit the 54, as much as I wanted to! Unfortunately didn't get to try it though to know for sure.

Saddle is at it's lowest position for me and that's just perfect but I'm permanently vertically challenged so growth spurts aren't an issue and I don't have to worry about turning into a 6ft monster over night.

I've heard of similar height people (like the daughter of the poster above) fitting just fine on a 54cm though just needing to swap/flip the stem for a better fit, but I don't think I could, at least not without shaving the seat post.

Of course 650c wheels (Not 650b) are the downside but Wiggle do a nice set at £100 and there's good tyre options, although none come in colours!
