Looking for a winter trainer and i know posters on here rave about the triban 3.
Would it be better a triban 5 or triban 3 with the £200 spent on upgrades ie new wheels, saddle, stem something on them lines?
or maybe just the triban 3 full stop?
my other bike is a kuota korsa (sram rival aksium)

Triban 3 would do, unless you want extra range of gears. Also, the 5 has carbon seat-stays which would make things smoother. But as said above, the 3 would do, and then you can upgrade the wheelset with the change.

Id just get the 3 it'll serve you well over the winter a cracking bike by what I gather If you want to spend a couple of hundred on a better pair of wheels go for it.

Just buy a second hand bike with £300 you could get a decent one which will save you upgrading anything.
Trouble is they take some finding! I scoured the net for a good second hand road bike. Everybody wanted top coin for them. Decided to get my Triban 3 after a bit of internet research and review reading.
Brand new with carbon forks for £300. You can't go wrong.

How would upgrading the wheels improve it?

Stock wheels are s$*t.

first thing you will want to do is to get grease into the hubs. It is the only rear major weak point that I have come across (other than my pedal bearings failing within 200 miles and being sealed units...) anyhow if you want to see what the hubs looked like on our 2 bikes after 1,000km in 5 months and 1,900km in 4 months, click here. I was not impressed to say the least
