On the Ska theme, we have a band local to the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk border called "Fen Boy 3".

I don't like tribute acts - they make it very difficult for those of us in original bands to get gigs on some circuits - but I must say some of their names are clever. I saw
"ARE WETHEM"
advertised around the midlands once. And I once read a review of a band called "AC/DC ... or is it?" The review simply read "It isn't".
Love the Geordie Cradle of Filth.

I have mixed views on tribute bands. Ok they are fun for many peeps, but basically they are ripping off the origional artist and in some cases reducing the demand for origional music/new local acts etc. Pubs are mostly jus tinterested in Bar sales, tributes bring in beer ..i know that s just life, but it sucks if you are an origional new band trying to get gigs. I'm also not sure how many of these tribute acts actually have the copyright licence etc to perform what they do. In fact the very word tribute is just wrong...I mean it's not a tribute..it's about sponging cash off somebody elses music.

Having said that if I had the chance to join a Deep purple tribute I'd jump at it:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Absolutely. It's amazing how often my band are asked who we're a tribute to, and told "oh, we only really have tribute acts here". I don't understand it, myself: the whole point of being in a band is to create things, not to tag on to someone else's image and be an inferior version of them.
