I was vacuuming this morning and it cut out. On inspection the power cable is damaged right where it goes into vacuum(Shark).
So, being reasonably handy i thought I'd take vacuum apart and a simple cut and reconnection would sort it. But no.
Not only are the screws Torx (which I have screwdrivers for) but they are the security Torx screws which have a little nipple like thing in centre which means I've had to order special set before I can even start to repair it.
Also when they arrive I strongly suspect it'll be a real faff to get apart as these things are not designed for home DIY repair, just like so many other appliances in todays throw away world.
Yup
I have had appliances where the power crod goes into the applinace and from that point all the connections seem to have been connected then buried in molten plastic formed around the whole thing
Clearly that could be a few pence cheaper to make by automated lines
but I suspect the main reason is to stop people fixing things when they break
Had something similar with our air fryer
2 basic electric elements at the top with a fan above it
tried to clean it properly and tried to remove the element - assuming it would just unplug
it won't - or it will - but the electric connector goes into the body of the appliance and the rest of it is all hidden being plastic with no access
it is a great thing - but designed on the basis of "if something goes wrong chuck it in a skip and buy another one!
