One of my first jobs in IT was to "sanitise" the customer database of postcode starting with SO
it was often entered as S0 and that caused the letters to be sorted in the wromg order
and hence the Post Office charged us a lot extra rather than the huge discount for pre sorted mail
High Five - I did the exact same thing but with patient health records in preparation for linking to the NHS spine.
I also had to perform a lot of filtering and fixing of postcodes - including SO and many other combinations. The number of UPDATE queries just grew and grew.

I was doing this in about 1982 - and on a "database" that was more of a custom file system accessed by routines written in-house in assembler

and only accessible in COBOL68

why was a rather rude introduction to the world of programming
(and I could "entertain" you with stories about how it got worse for hours!!"

so UPDATE queries would have been a massive luxury at the time!!

Why sell olives with their 'stones' still in them?! It's pointless trying to eat them by the handful as each one has to be carefully moved around the mouth to avoid biting into a potentially tooth damaging stone. Also, why bother filling pitted olives with such as anchovies, red peppers, garlic, feta cheese etc, etc?! I've yet to taste anything but the olive itself after trying mostly green olives with such fillings. 🤔

To me this just reads like "why bother selling whole free range chickens for roasting? It's pointless trying to shove them in your mouth as they're too big to fit and full of bones, unlike mechanically reclaimed battery chicken nuggets"

Olives with the stone in have a firmer texture and taste better - stoned olives tend to be stored in brine, which makes them salty and soggy.
Also - most stoned black olives are actually green olives dyed black - while there are different olive varieties they are all green when unripe and black when ripe, so the difference is when they're harvested. Black olives are ripe and therefore softer, which makes them less easy to remove the stones from without turning them to mush.

The 'stones' are removed to be pressed for Olive Oil, they don't press the whole Olive.

It is cheaper, so more profit per kilo.

You can taste some of them, though I usually prefer them without any filling.

Just been to Tesco

so - annoying thing is people who put their trolley at the end of a long line in the trolley parking

when the line is already so long that it goes half way across the lane next to it - this blcking the road to some extent

the next trolley parking if literally 20 yards away!!

now - there are excuses
if someone is disabled - not to the extent that they need the disabled apces but enough - then I understand
If someone has 3 tired and hungry kids that are likely to kill each other if left along in the car for more that 12.7 seconds - then I understand

but most people who do this are not in those categories

they are just morons

same for the ones who just leave their trolley in the middle of the parking spaces
Yes - you are very clever - well done indeed for getting a trolley without paying - how wonderful you are

NOW PUT IT BACK WHERE IT COMES FROM!!!

Yea Gods!!
