I ruined a 15mm spanner trying to undo a seized pedal. It's now too big to undo a 15mm nut without rounding it. However it's now just about big enough to undo a 16mm locknut on a cone.

I replied to a post on FB about Chipmunk trainers at RAF Newton. Dad worked on them, it was his last posting before leaving after 22 years (i think) in the RAF.
Someone just replied, he and another had worked for dad there in 1974/75.

Just the fact he was remembered him is amazing, like a.little bit of him lives in the people he knew.

I feel quite emotional.now....

I've just found my parents wedding day photos and the gold printed paper invitation to the event on September the 15th 1956. I'm happy as I want to post the photos and a photo of the invite on my own Facebook page next Tuesday, on the 70th anniversary of their wedding. I was worried in case I found the items too late for their anniversary, but I now have them waiting to be posted on my Facebook page!

I didn't used to be a dog person but I'm OK with them now, and I even like a few of them. No wet kisses though, that's absolutely disgusting. Also, while I'm happy to give them a pet I want to wash my hands straight away after.

that is one of the things that really puts me off about dogs. Just one of the things, I'm not a dog person at all.

I learned years ago never to trust someone who doesn't like dogs on at least some level.
Something that has proven me right in the past, no offence if they just don't interest you or you were attacked as a kid, etc.

Conversely, there are some absolute psychos who love dogs, but the lack of an appreciation for dogs or animals in general is always an unsettling 'red flag' to me.

That said...

No wet kisses though, that's absolutely disgusting.

I've never liked the licks either, but I accept it's an occupational hazard.

Also, while I'm happy to give them a pet I want to wash my hands straight away after.

It depends on the dog, if I know they are clean and/or don't smell, then... Well, that's half the battle right there.
Besides, there are certain areas where they cannot lick themselves anyway, like the top of the head.
I will wash my hands/face, etc when I am licked ASAP.

Unlike most, it has nothing to do with poo, which is just that, poo, what you have *largely* already fed them, something you will know when dealing with babies and small kids.

No, it's just I was terrified of the whole CjD thing when I was a kid and there was a thing for a while about saliva, tonsils and the cleanliness of dental implements and so on.

That might have been on a human level, but you never know what dogs have been eating either, especially if they find something sketchy in the street, which is/was usually intended for human consumption anyway (also I realise that dog food will be a lot more safer now). Besides, my views are a but out - dated about the disease (it appears to be more of a genetic and sometimes hereditary thing), not that I can shake them.

Also, I know cats can get CjD, but dogs? I have heard conflicting things over the years.

Ironically, I'll happily kiss another person and gawd only knows what they have been eating/licking, etc.

They say a human bite is a LOT more dangerous for a start, so, are we actually looking at it in a rather skewed humancentric way as usual? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Having been round dogs most of my life (I've just done the maths), they are (usually) the least of my worries, it's other people you have to watch. 🙄🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
