Truing a wheel- remove tyre?

Just that really- probably a dumb question but here goes! I'm taking my rear wheel to a guy with a proper truing stand. If it is advisable to remove, then I'll do it beforehand to save him the bother as he's doing it as a favour for me.

I suspect it should be removed to get a better view, but read somewhere you get a better idea of spoke tension with the inflated tyre. Any views?

with the tyre on you can only really true it side to side, but not get any high/low spots out - depends on how well you want it trued!!!!

Thanks. Side to side is the main problem as far as I can tell and I've trued as best I can without a proper stand. sounds best to remove the tyre anyway.

true it without the tyre on , then fit the tyre and see how if it gets thrown out by much then tweak to suit.
