now i've got more movement back in my broken collarbone, i've started using a turbo trainer to do half an hour a day.

this is to hopefully keep my fitness up, so that when i'm ok to cycle to work again (38km a day), i'm not having to ease my way back in slowly (alternative is £12 a day on the train .

seeing the specialist this week, so will see what he thinks…

After separating my shoulder last year I used the turbo to keep myself fit, for the first two weeks I just rode gently whilst sitting upright - not needing to put hands on the bars to steer was great.

Didn't have any noticeable drop in fitness in the 6 weeks I was off the bike.

I'm 3 weeks in on my collar bone break.

Consultant said I could use the turbo when I felt comfortable after at least a week of taking it easy.

Tried the turbo on week 2 for 30m with sling. Didn't like getting on and off and constant upright position was a bit uncomfortable. Week 3 with no sling... I felt much happier and will now use the turbo regularly.

I've been doing a daily 30m walk too which involves a hill to keep moving for both fitness and sanity.

All the best.
