I have recently bought my first turbo trainer. Within it is a "Quick release skewer", the instructions state i am only to use this particular skewer on the turbo trainer.

The big question is...

Can i use the skewer that is provided when cycling in general ???? or do i have to swap back to the skewer that originally came with the bike ???

Many Thanks

Yes, the only difference in skewer is it's shape

+1. The problem is that the one previously on your bike will not fit comfortably into the holder (probably). The turbo skewers are in fact what all skewers were like 10 or 20 or 30 years back

Just make sure that it clamps well and doesn't come undone.
The skewer on my turbo is not great. I wouldn't use mine on the road, it does have the habit of coming undone on the turbo (which doesn't really matter). I'd hate to think what would happen out on the road.

I'll keep that in mind, cheers mate.
