Tacx Booster.

Not used in three weeks.

Took bike off to race.

Sat in garage.

Just moved outside, put bike back on - with an old tyre.

In highest resistance (10), in hardest gear, at 130rpm I’m squeaking close to 290W. I can usually hit 650, by comparison.

The resistance does increase as the settings change from 1-10, but it’s much much less resistance than before.

I had the fluid unit implode last year, which was entirely replaced. You could tell something was wrong as the resistance went completely and white stuff was leaking out. Not so at the moment.

Cheers

Show off. I think you’ll find you have just turned into a 350W + FTP power monster.

3 week’s rest has been miraculous.

So, the problem started when you fitted an old tyre ...?

The definition of an old tyre is that it is at least slightly worn, and therefore it is not as big as it used to be.

I deduce that due to the reduced tyre diameter, the tyre is slipping on the turbo trainer roller!

Yeah, TACX thought it was the tyre but also asked me to check the roller was pressing into the tyre properly.

A few twists of the screw there, and we’re back! :becool::bicycle:

Why not just ride the bike?

A simple phrase, and yet so loaded with layers of philosophy....

Should one ever perform training that is not in the form of actually riding the bike on the road?

Should one ever, truly “train”?

What is training anyway?

Where is The Cake in all of this?

So many questions, so little time...
