Is it just me who finds these new fangled superfluous commentaries an annoying intrusion on tv programmes?
To clarify, tonight I came upon a TV prog. featuring Bear Grylls the adventurer chappie. Grylls appeared on screen getting out of a canoe, setting his paddle down on the canoe and then walking up the stony beach. At this point the announcer told us that Grylls had set down his paddle and was walking up the beach. Is this commentary provided to assist the visually impaired or what? I had heard a similar commentary recently but can't remember which tv prog it was on.
Is there anyway of muting this superfluous commentary while retaining the normal soundtrack?

Sounds like you have Audio Description switched on.

My Dad had same complaints and I suggested above solutions. I no longer watch any TV coz I'm always around my parents house retuning the box he's somehow managed to bollox up completely.

Hmm sounds like my mother in law. HDMI 1 I keep saying. The others in the family can't work it out... She is the only one with SKY so it's a bit like the blind leading the blind.

When I arrive I can see that the sky picture is crap (mother in law can't see that other than it crackles and breaks up), the rest of the family don't realise.... Sure it's my father in law who passed away last year having a fiddle with the wires again, as they are a mess and he has looped the sky box to also output in analogue for a second TV. Sky won't touch it when their engineers arrive.

We get the 'come round now' commentary for days and days.
