so they're both guilty...taxi driver for not looking, cyclist for no lights or brakes. next time taxi driver will hopefully look, cyclist will be lit up like an xmas tree and will be able to stop. sh!t happens..nothing to see here, move along now.

No he didn't. The paper reported he didn't look and the police charged him with it. It says nowhere the Taxi driver admitted to that charge.

I guess getting fined for no lights etc the copper would have to know specifically which law was broken. We've seen on vids on here, they're not always on the ball in that respect.

my mistake, misread it.

Simply pointing out another case that the motorist could jump on. "The driver got fined the idiot cyclist who also broke the law got nothing"

As i said the other day, that just differentiates the cyclist from us for us. Not going to affect what joe public thinks.

I enough people point out that he was not a cyclist but somebody on a bike it "might" sink in. Then again I have taken my naive pills today.

That will only happen if the definition of cyclist gets re-written in the dictionary.

Not necessarily true as bright lights would have lit up the inside of his cab like daylight, so he would have known there was something there, even without looking.
