I've got a sheet of Kevlar in my garage that my son gave me years ago. He's an engineer and it was knocking around so he thought I might find it useful. I decided I cut out a few 'patches' to stick in my saddle bag in case I blew a hole in the tyre or found a bit of tube sticking through the sidewall. I did have to use one last year I think it was.....anyway....has anyone ever tried cutting a sheet of Kevlar? Jeez, it's no wonder someone decided to use it in tyre construction. I've no idea how small sharps would ever get through that stuff. Cutting it was a real challenge.

According to Google AI (from Bicycle Stack Exchange), for maximum speed use puncture resistant tyres, for commuting use tyre liners. Watts penalty of 1.7 for ‘Mr Tuffy Ultralite’, 14 for Panracer Flataway.

Yet Mr Tuffy seem scammers, the ultralight near enough the same weight as their normal ones.
If you believe the source, my use of gaffer tape will have got the watts penalty right down too. And next to zero at the speed I do.

No idea whether they are scammers or not, merely providing grist for the mill, with the source.

Easy to find the correct source for punkawallah. However the testing info from Rollingresistance.com website leaves unanswered questions, just like their results.
Just one example is that my lighter liner tyre combo will have less inertia than a heavy tyre, not that it will matter too much at my low speed.

But obviously, it is a personal choice thing. I have simply gone back to liners on a trial basis.

Tried Slime brand liners. Eventually the goats head thorns got through. The thorn was stuck in the liner and pliers were required to remove. Continental Town and Countries at the time. On the plus side, once the tube has about 20 patches it becomes a little less flat prone.

Pre-patch tubes for fewer flats?
