Another vote for a Marathon variant, usually a Marathon Plus for me. Most commuting is relatively short distance. Saving five seconds with a faster tyre is pretty irrelevant compared to getting their without having to fix a puncture. I find the ride not bad anyway. Pressure makes quite a difference with any tyre. I pump them up quite hard, approaching 100psi.

Marathons at 100psi! If you had any fillings before, you wouldn't after!

I think the stated minimum inflation on Rubino 25mm is 100psi or near to it.

But go wider, go lower, go more comfortable.
I just checked the Vittoria pressure calculator...

(91 kg total load, supple ride etc.)

4.62 bar = 67 psi
4.81 bar = 70 psi

I actually think those are too low. For 25C I was using more like 6 bar/87 psi and 6.3 bar/91 psi.

I had no great luck with Marathon Plus.
The level 7 protection CST I now use, seem to rebound all glass and thorns out, glass being near impossible to avoid. School hols certainly impacted there.

Whether their Level 5s matched Marathon Plus, am unsure but the claim is for 40% better than the CST level 5.
Luckily puncturevine is rare, that rumoured to be a tougher test on tyres.
Touch wood, I am still at 1 slow puncture per 10,000 km, the tyres lasting 15km+.

Marathon Plus are pretty puncture proof but are heavy and slow. They can be a PIA to get on and off a rim.

Because, depending on the type, it's another thing that falls out when replacing a tube or gets kinked up while repairing punctures and it's not unknown for the ends to stab through tyres themselves. Been there, done that (kevlar tape, stiff nylon and some sort of foam thing) and can't be faffed any more. Buy tyres with it in or just accept more repair stops.

I’ll let you know.

Tyres break over time, as they rub into the road. Any ideas as to how many miles? Comparison to the average time between punctures?

About a year - I started getting lots of little tiny holes and you could see where the edge of the tyre insert was rubbing. These were soft inserts. They also make the tyre feel dead, even these newer softer ones. Just stick with a decent puncture resistant tyre for commuting. Worked well at first

I will keep an eye on it.
