Hi I am looking at buying some schwalbe marathon plus 700x38c tyres

at the moment I have the standard specialized 700x45c tyres

will the 700x38c fit seeing as my current tyre is 700x45c?
I am assuming they will and just be slightly thinner.

Also I am assuming I have chose the right tyre as I am looking for something that has very good puncture protection, I am currently using the slime protection strip which IMHO is not what it used to be. I gave up on the slime "tube" slime.

any advice on tyre size and quality would be appreciated, I have £30 for each tyre to spend.

Thanx

Yep  I had the same standard specialized puncture magnet junk and put 35s on them. Good tyre too. Should do the job nicely.

35s made it great on the road but I sink in anything soft a bit too much on trails. If your sticking to road go thinner, if you still want the flexibility of offload then 38's would be a good choice

If you have a crosstrail rim width was 18mm, so you could go down quite narrow if you wanted.

Short Answer:

It will most likely fit and you can't get much better puncture protection than the Marathon Plus.

Long Answer:

Have a read of this article. Down the bottom is a table showing what tyre sizes will fit best on which rims. This is only a guide and not gospel.

thank you for your quick responses, looks like I am doing the right thing, yup I have a crosstrail and the 38's would be handy as I do go down some pretty rough tracks

thanks for the link I did go there earlier the chat at the bottom I missed and really does help.
