this might be a dumb question but i have a 26x2.10 tyre on my bike which needs replacing. I happen to have a spare tyre which is 26x1.95. Is it likely to fit? Ta

yes well i have put it on and yes as it turns out is does indeed fit.

i just wondered because the last time i got a new tyre the bike shop man seemed very adamant that it had to be the right width. although he did also seem quite adamant that it had to be a schwalbe marathon plus

Yup. The great sage has a guide on what fits with what, with a rough guide (scroll down) of rim vs tyre widths

he may have been right, you can't replace a 26x1.5 tyre with a 26x1 1/2 for an example. nor will 26 x 1 3/8 be any use for either of the above wheels.

in short - it doesn't hurt to ask:smile:

Don't be afraid to ask, there wouldn't be much of a forum if people didn't ask questions...
