Part of household fleet is my son's Dawes Discovery 201. The OEM Kenda tyre at rear is way past its best but I'm having difficulty finding anything. still less choice, at exact size 700C*30 (622*30?). Am I reading Sheldon and other sources correctly as saying a 32 (or 28 but we don't want to go narrower) would be an OK substitute?

If so then I've plenty options either at LBS, Halfords or my usual choice, Simpsons in Kentish Town.

Tyre manufacturers seem to measure things in mystifying ways..

Measure it with calipers. I was thinking of moving to 25 mm until I discovered my 23 mm tyres measure 25mm !
So if it seems closer to 32mm then go with 32mm.
