UK government alert (wild fire risk)!!!

We were on the train from Paddington to Plymouth, a whole carriage worth of phones went off. I thought it was the train alarm! Within 45 mins, I received 3 alerts, as did most other people. It was scary how many patches of charred field, scrubland, lay-byes etc I saw from the train.

Following the fire on Mousehold Heath, the National Fire Risk was raised to Pyjamas Purple, triggering the alert.
I had to cancel the gender-reveal fireworks cook out. Now we will never know.

My phone just went bonkers with a wild fire risk alert. I didn't even know it could do that!

No, nor me! I don't need that kind of panic at the moment.

It quickly became a game of trying to shut the darn alarms off when they went off as fast as possible. I don’t mind getting an alert but I think the siren sounds are unnecessary.

Sadly it's the world we live in now. A blanket warning has to be issued because there are still those who don't have any common or practical sense. Or those who simply do what they want and think that their little bubble they live in does not have any consequence for anyone else.
