I get what you're saying, but for me, I probably go to the pub more since the ban...

Nothing to do with my being teetotal for years before the ban then starting drinking again once the ban came in!

(Though even as a smoker I think the ban is good, they are much nicer places now, and a lock in feels even more special!)

If you look at those bargains, you'll often see they are very close to the sell by date - those guys buy up stuff that's been sent back by the big supermarkets a lot of the time
isn't that the clever wheeze employed by a well-known chain of pubs?

Regardless of whether the smoking ban has had a significant effect on the pub trade or not... there's one very specific reason why i don't pop to the pub very often at all these days... the smoking ban.

Pubs are now places where you can't go outside for a breath of fresh air to clear your head......

Oh god i miss having a nice ciggy first thing in the morning with my tea, i loved smoking and if they come up with a cigarette that is not bad for you , smells nice and costs a quid a packet i fancy giving it another go

They'll work on that as soon as they've invented the cheeseburger that has the same calories as a salad.

Back in the seventies they developed a cigarette with an artificial tobacco, most of the major manufacturers had at least one brand in the line up. "Peer" was one make of such cigarette I tried, I can't really remember what it was like or what became of the whole concept.

I quit seven years ago. I reckon by the time I retire, (the retirement age will likely be 70), the first thing I'm gonna do is start smoking again ... the trouble is on my likely pension I'd only be able to afford 3 ciggies a day max, I'd then have to make the choice between having them after a meal or only after sex ....
