Hi guys, firstly their is one thing I need to say, I’m not riding this up coming event I’m running it, though I think you will be just as interested!
The plan is traveling 50 miles a day to run and walk from the UK to Kristianstad in Sweden. Traveling over 800 miles in as little days as possible, the only assisted transport will be a canoe in which I’ll roe the 22 miles over the channel from Denver to Caley.
As you could image organizing this is a nightmare, but the biggest problem im having is route planning, this usually isn’t a problem because im use to planning routes up and around mountains but when it comes down to running from place to place needing some where to stay it get difficult. Firstly if for some reason I am unable to the 50 miles on one day how am I going to find somewhere to stay? Is every thing pre booked (an idea that sounds mighty fine but seemingly imposable) or do I find a place wherever I can? This also makes me think; where can I stay, motels youth hostels are good but I don’t expect to be in one every night so ill have to camp (which im more than happy to do) but where can I camp? Can I just pitch up at the side of the road, under bridges in fields? And lastly, how many maps am I going to need! os maps are usually my choose but this is for short distances, to get os or the equivalent to go all the way through UK France Belgium Netherlands Germany Denmark and Sweden is going to be a nightmare just to find what map im on let alone any thing else. So is a GPS going to be useful, are they trust worthy?
