My ideal trip would be to cycle camp from home in Kent to Cornwall, then up the western side of England to Hadrians Wall, across to the east coast and then back to Kent more or less down the east coast.

But for now I'll settle for about 15 miles over the weekend on an unladen bike!

Nothing too ambitious, just a commute to work and back.
Given I live in Hull and have worked on ships in Aberdeen, Peterhead, Tananger - Norway, Den Helder - Holland it could amount to a few miles.
Actually, the North sea cycle route to either Tananger or den Helder is very attractive.

My friend Bill Honeywell is doing exactly this starting in May.
He is looking for other cyclists to ride a little way with him as he wends his way around the coast.

We are stretching our legs together on The Bay Dash this weekend in The Lakes, but i like somewhere warmer than Scotland so i will be doing Munich - Venice in September.

Here are some contact details for Bill -

Always wanted to cycle through Europe then cross the Asian part of Turkey and head in to Iran. After that the plan was to go through Pakistan and go in to India and cycle around India and then go in to Nepal and finish in Kathmandu.

Does anyone else find this colour hard to read?

Please funnymummy can you change your option to help us older types?

LeJog, is the first one that comes to mind - Ever since I was a kid & watched some chap on the TV walk it, I've semi organised doing it several times accross 3 decades, but life has a funny way of throwing things in your way when you least expect them
I'm now working on a plan to do it next year with my bubbas, take the whole 6 weeks summer holiday & just wander our way round, local history & places of intrest to my boys.

For my 'older years' I have this idea that one day i'll buy a Winnebago, we'll load up our bikes & just go, round the world, parking up whenver we want, then riding round viewing the sights & culture

The reason why fm writes like that was given in another thread...

I'm dyslexic, I can't read black on a white background.. I have to highlight posts to be able to read them, I just type in a colour I can read

Coincidentally, you came across as a bit of a grumpy old Yorkshireman in that thread too.

Mont Ventoux.

It's not much, but I HATE hill climbing. The run down the other side is always worth it though!

Other than that, if I was doing a big touring type 'take all your kit with you' thing, it would probably be a trip across Europe. Start in portugal and go right across, winding my way wherever, until i got to greece.

I got fed up with just dreaming last year and quit my job to do a dream trip, cycling across Canada east to west then down the Pacific Coast to LA. It was amazing! I know it's not possible for most people to just quit and head off on their own but many of the trips people have posted are perfectly achievable. Start saving and planning people .

For those thinking they'll be lonely if they go on their own, I honestly can't remember a time I was lonely on my big trip. I met loads of people, and when there weren't other people around I could usually get on the internet and come on here to chat or e-mail friends. I'm definitely not the gregarious type so if I can find people to talk to I'm sure everyone can.
