They will be good for when you are watching The Great Escape (or chicken run). You could almost be in the Nazi POW camp. ^_^
Nah, we've got 'em running along the top of the kitchen cabinets pointing up at the ceiling. You can set them to any colour using a wee remote control thingy. The girls love 'em for parties (TBH they never get used any other time).

Are they the ones with a setting where they just keep changing all the time? Saw some doing that and the effect was amazing.

You can do that. You can have them constant. You can use any of the dozen or so pre-programmed colours. Or you can 'mix' a colour yourself. And all for about £40 all in! Amazing.

I replaced the 35w halogen GU10's in my kitchen with those 7w fluorescent bulbs

Would be interested in recommendations of decent LED GU10's if anyone has any...

I wouldn't consider "spots", I like a uniform of spread light, not light & shadows and it's cheap & easy to assess exactly what I need with flo's.

I wouldn't write off fluorescents just yet...............I'd use extra warm white tubes, these are used specifically for food displays, I have them under my cabinets. :smile:I know that LED's are more efficient, but I'd have to chop carrots 24/7 for several years before I'd saved enough cash to buy 1 pint of beer..........oh, I forgot, LED tubes are 10x the cost of fluorescent ones..........

you can get LEDs with a wide beam so no shadow effect.

Yes, but they only give a softer & wider spread of light (not focused like a torch), if you wanted a uniform spread of light over a worktop then you'd use LED tubes not wide beam LED "spots".

yeah thats what i was implying, the LED is a strip rather than a tube with a lower power LED every 75mm or so . we have some lovely ones in work for the pelmets over the WHB in the WCs . the architwonk specified a pinky hue for the ladiers one and a bluey hue for the gents. nothing like stereotyping !!

We replaced the main kitchen fluorescent light with LEDs a few months ago. It changed it from quite dim to bright daylight. We couldn't find replacement bulbs for the old light and went for LEDs because they were on offer. Very happy with them.
