So when is best to filter ?? as your right im really not getting your point. Had the OP been "filtering" past 20 mph moving traffic then yes id say probably not the best idea.
Again by asking when its best to filter shows you missed the point unless im not making my argument clear which is possible.
I thought it was a safe time to filter. However you claimed that because the Law said you could it meaning that he should or that's what was implied as others should have expected it.

I never wear an apron when cycling.

I've watched this video half a dozen times and my comments would be:

1) Probably he/she should have pulled left

BUT

2) Probably you should have stopped and tucked in.

Filtering on a corner section like that really isn't clever cycling. You're not giving yourself or oncoming traffic a fair chance....

I'd be interested to see what the temporary sign on the right at 0:10 says (Next to the lampost and bike)

Agreed.

Agreed

The law says you can OP felt it safe to do so and so would i. Didn't say it was right and filtering comes at a risk. However the risk is lessened if the oncoming traffic doesn't intentionally move towards you.

as others should have expected it.

Yes Mr nobber cabbie should have expected it as he was approaching static traffic. As i said had the cabbie been approaching 20 mph moving traffic then i would have sympathized with him.

You missed what im getting it. The Fact that cyclists can filter does not solely justify that they can filter which is what seemed to be the evidence to support your comment. There is no arguing that cyclists have a right to filter but just because you can does not mean that you can always act apron this right as it may not be suitable and if not create a greater problem. You cant solely justify filtering just because the law says you can.

I'm taken aback in a good way.:thumbsup::whistle:

I was getting bored!

These threads tend to go round the houses, with no real outcome other than we all perceive and assess risk differently. I prefer to err on the side of caution, better to arrive a few minutes late than not at all.

Yes i agree and i don't wish to upset or argue with Dan at all i just don't get his point. Unless the OP broke any law which im not aware of. Usually someone can say your in the wrong as you went against what your allowed to do, or you acted in a dangerous manor etc. I don't see any of that in this case that's all.
